Welcome to the Florida House

Florida is the only state of the fifty with an embassy in Washington, D.C.
Florida House, located one block east of the Capitol, directly across the street from the Supreme Court Building, has stood as a beacon for thousands of visiting Floridians, students and dignitaries since 1973.  The beautiful, three-story Victorian home, built in 1891, was purchased and is maintained solely by contributions for the citizens of Florida.  No state or federal taxes are used in any way to support Florida House.

The Florida House Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization
that provides cultural, social, educational and economic resources,
showcases Florida’s culture and diversity, maintains and operates
Florida House and provides opportunities for Florida’s citizens to
enrich their appreciation and knowledge of our nation’s government.

With its close proximity to the Capitol and Supreme Court,
plus the warm and hospitable staff, Florida House
should be a destination for all visitors from Florida,
including school groups and those conducting business in Washington,D.C.

The house is open Monday through Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, and is closed on Federal holidays.
Hosting a special event in Washington? Florida House is available for meetings, receptions and meal functions.
